Boys Basketball at the 2025 CANUSA Games – Hamilton, Ontario | August 8th to 10th

The 2025 CANUSA Games will feature exciting Boys Basketball competition from August 8th to 10th in Hamilton, Ontario. Talented athletes from Hamilton and Flint, Michigan, will come together to compete in a friendly, competitive environment that celebrates sport and international friendship.


General Information – Boys Basketball at the CANUSA Games

The Boys Basketball competition will take place at one central venue in Hamilton and consist of a series of games between Hamilton and Flint teams. Please note, this is not a tournament, but a set of friendly matchups designed to promote athletic development and lasting cross-border connections.


Tryouts & Practices

CANUSA Boys Basketball Tryouts – Summer 2025

Boys born between 2008 and 2015 are invited to try out for Team Hamilton for the 2025 CANUSA Games.

Location: St. Mary Catholic Secondary School – West Hamilton, near McMaster University
Transit Access: Easily accessible via the 51 University or 5C Meadowlands bus routes, with transfers available at Jackson Square.

Tryout Dates: Every Thursday, beginning July 3rd through the end of July
Times by Birth Year:

  • 6:00 PM – Players born in 2015, 2014, 2013
  • 7:15 PM – Players born in 2012, 2011, 2010
  • 8:30 PM – Players born in 2009, 2008

Tryouts and practices are free to attend.
Athletes are encouraged to attend as many sessions as possible.
Attendance at 80% of sessions is required for team selection eligibility.

Registration & Costs

  • A small registration fee applies once selected for the team
  • Financial assistance and scholarships are available to ensure all athletes can participate
  • Game registration will open after team selections are finalized

CANUSA is proud to partner with STAC Basketball, one of Hamilton’s premier basketball organizations. Their coaching and development support helps ensure a top-tier experience for all athletes trying out and competing in the Games.

Billeting Requirement for CANUSA Families

As the host city, Hamilton families are required to billet a visiting Flint athlete during the Games.
Billeting is a CANUSA tradition that keeps the Games affordable and builds lifelong friendships between cities.


Vulnerable Sector Check

Hamilton parents who billet Flint athletes must complete a Vulnerable Sector Check through the Hamilton Police Service.
